Rear Admiral Jorge Manuel Paz Acosta

He was born on September 29 in Arequipa. He studied at the La Salle school and after completing his studies he entered the Navy on February 28, 1983, graduating on January 1, 1988 as Alférez de Fragata.

He is qualified in Hydrography and Navigation and has followed important courses such as the Basic Intelligence, Basic Staff, Command and Staff, Strategic Management for Defense and Crisis Management at the Naval War College, and the High Command course in the Defense Institute of the National Defense University of the People's Republic of China.

He also holds a Bachelor of Naval Marine Sciences and holds a Master of Science degree with a specialization in Environmental Management from the National University of Engineering and has completed a Master's Degree in National Security and Defense at the Center for Higher National Studies.

Among the most outstanding positions held by the aforementioned naval authority, the following stand out: Chief of the 1st. Division of the Department of Armament of the BAP Admiral Grau, Deputy Chief of Operations of the Naval Protection and Security Service, Head of the Plans and Program Office of the General Directorate of Material, Advisory Officer of the Stella Maris Association of the General Command of the Marina, Head of the Sub-Personnel Department of the Directorate of Personnel Management, Head of the Doctrine and Training Office of the General Directorate of Policy and Strategy of the Ministry of Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the General Command of Operations of the Amazon , Internal Inspector of the Directorate General of Instruction, Head of the Strategic Planning Department and Executive Director of the Directorate General of Personnel and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Maritime Interests.

In the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation, he has held various positions such as: Head of the Headlight Division of the Nautical Signaling Department, Head of the Oceanography, Meteorology and Geophysics Divisions of the Department of the Environment, Head of the Department of the Environment, Head of the Qualification School for Officers in Hydrography and Navigation, Head of the Office of Extra-institutional Affairs, Internal Inspector, Technical Chief and Sub Director.

He has been Officer in charge of the hydrographic vessel AEH-174, Commander of the BAP Melo, Commander of the BIC SNP-1, Second Commander and Head of Operations of the BIC Humboldt in the IX Scientific Expedition to the Antarctic and Commander of the BIC José Olaya Balandra.

In 2015, the government granted him the promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral and was appointed Director of Marine Material Hiring. In 2016, he was appointed Defense Attaché to the Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Alternate Permanent Representative of Peru to the International Maritime Organization.

In 2018, he assumes the position of Director of Hydrography and Navigation.
